Privacy policy

How we handle the personal data of people who visit this site and write to us.

Provided under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Data controller

The data controller is Silvanae Sicily Holiday, based in Aci Trezza (CT), Italy. Full details, including the VAT number, appear in the footer of every page of this site. For any request concerning your data, write to the email address given on the contact page.

What we collect

Data you give us. When you fill in the enquiry form you provide your name, email address, optionally a telephone number, approximate dates for the stay and the content of your message.

Data collected automatically. For technical and security reasons the server hosting this site records the IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested and the browser type. This data is not used to profile visitors.

We do not collect special categories of data and we do not process children’s data.

  • Answering enquiries and quotation requests — steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Managing the booking and the stay — performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and compliance with legal obligations, including reporting guests to the Italian public security authorities (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • Site security and operation — the controller’s legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Anonymous traffic statistics — only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for 24 months. Booking data is kept for as long as tax and administrative obligations require, normally ten years. Technical server logs are kept for a limited period set by the hosting provider.

Who we share it with

Data may be processed by suppliers acting as processors: the site’s hosting provider, the email provider and the booking management system. Guest data is reported to the public security authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell or transfer personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Google Maps. The property pages and the contact page include an embedded Google map. When you open those pages, Google Ireland Limited (and, for some operations, Google LLC in the United States) receives your IP address and technical browser data, and may set its own cookies: for this data Google acts as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing you where the houses are (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can limit the data collected by blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings.

Transfers outside the European Union

For the purposes described above we do not transfer data to third countries, with one exception: if you choose to load the Google map, technical data about your connection may be transferred to the United States. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the subject of the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023, and the transfer rests on that basis.

Should another supplier in future operate outside the European Economic Area, the transfer will rest on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Your rights

At any time you may request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. You may withdraw consent given for statistics without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (https://www.garanteprivacy.it).

To exercise these rights, write to the email address on the contact page. We reply within one month of receiving the request.

Cookies

This site uses only the technical cookies it needs to work, plus statistics cookies if you accept them. The detail is in the cookie policy.
